Our Monmouth, Illinois plant was founded in 1962 and produces fresh pork and ready-to-cook bacon. More than 1,500 employees help to ensure the successful operation of this plant, which processes more than 10,000 hogs each day and produces more than 60 million pounds of pork products every year.

The plant has seen zero NOV's (Notices of Violation) for more than six years, and is led by an experienced, tenured staff, averaging well over seven years of service. The award-winning facility earned Farmland's Most Improved Facility and Best Overall Facility in 2011, Smithfield's Most Improved Facility 2013, and was Ranked #1 in Agri-Stats index of operating efficiency for Q4 of 2015. Leading the way in environmental stewardship, it also won the Smithfield Environmental Excellence Award for Fiscal Year 2007. It has also been a frequent winner of the Governor's Pollution Prevention Award (2006, 2007, 2008, 2012).

A good community partner, the Monmouth plant won community awards such as Best Manufacturer of the Year and Largest Economic Impact Employer of the Year. Monmouth's employees have also raised $35,000 in donations for 2016 for the Warren County United Way.
